If you only have a few days in Central Europe, you can still cover a surprising amount of ground. Budapest feels young, energetic, and a little chaotic in the best way. It is a city of thermal baths, ruin bars, and some of the most dramatic architecture in Europe.

Morning
Start on the Buda side. Hike or take the funicular up to Buda Castle and walk along Fisherman’s Bastion for the best views over the Danube.

Afternoon
Cross the Chain Bridge back into Pest and explore the Parliament area.

Evening
End your day at the Széchenyi or Gellért thermal bath. If you still have energy, check out a ruin bar. Spend the night out at Instant Fogas!

Day 2: Vienna

Vienna is the opposite of Budapest. Clean, grand, and organized, it feels like a city built around culture and design.

Morning
Start at Schönbrunn Palace and walk the gardens.

Afternoon
Head into the city center, explore the Ringstrasse, and stop for coffee and sachertorte at a traditional Viennese cafe.

Evening
Have dinner near Stephansplatz or visit a heuriger wine tavern just outside the center.

Day 3: Prague

Prague feels like a fairytale city. Narrow cobblestone streets, gothic buildings, and a castle overlooking the river.

Morning
Start early at Charles Bridge, then walk up to Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral.

Afternoon
Explore Old Town and the Astronomical Clock.

Evening
End in the Mala Strana district with dinner in one of the quieter side streets.

Final Thoughts

Three days is quick, but it is enough to experience the unique personality of each city. Budapest is bold, Vienna is polished, and Prague feels timeless. The train routes make this itinerary simple, affordable, and perfect for a long weekend.
